APUG South China Cluster Meeting

October 5, 2009 - The first APUG South China Cluster meeting hosted by CLP Power Hong Kong was held on 24th and 25th of September that brought together a network of procurement professionals.

Attending utilities included CEM Macau, Guangdong Power Grid - Logistic Centre, Guangdong Yudean Group Co. Ltd. - Upper Horn Investments Ltd, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, and Guangdong Nuclear Power JV Co. Ltd.

Mr. S.M. Ho, Chief Procurement Officer of CLP, started the meeting with the welcoming address to 25 delegates representing 6 power utilities from the Pearl River Delta region. SM made a very heartfelt welcome and acknowledged the representation from across the region and opportunities for learning from each other over the two day meeting.

Featuring topics ranged from restructuring in South China power companies, to managing risks in the supply chain, collaborative procurement and trends in Green Purchasing. Each of the companies present updated the group on recent developments, future projects and key issues. 

In closing, S.M. Ho thanked the members and guests for their contributions to the meeting emphasizing the importance of collaboration among the electricity utilities in the same geographical region

as they are faced with similar challenges. He appreciated that most guests found the APUG meeting a good platform for them to learn from each other and update others about their latest activities. 

In the evening, APUG members and invited guests attended the dinner at Lei Garden, hosted by CLP, and had a very enjoyable exchange of networking.
