September 1, 2009 – The APUG Steering Group meeting in Melbourne, July 2009, approved industry buyers to be on the SMS. Industry buyers are within the SMS only; not being members of the APUG Utilities Community, and therefore attend SG meetings or networking activities when invited. The SG also requested an implementation plan, which has been distributed to the members. As large contractors join the SMS as buyers, and put their sub-contractors also through the same questionnaire in the SMS, the risks to all buyers will be lessened.

It was agreed to accept the recommendations for Industry Membership, as follows:
• For companies who wish to be both Buyers and Suppliers
• Membership fee – Achilles SMS component only
• Attendance at Steering Group meetings (when invited)
• Involvement in Utility networking activities (when invited)
• Same usage rights and visibility as existing Buyers
• Any special activities by invitation of the SG
